The Basic Massage Therapy program is a 500-hour massage therapy course for beginners that focuses on the principles of relaxation and therapeutic massage therapy training.  Wholistic Health Training & Research Centre blends both Western and Eastern medicine to provide you with an education that is transferable to plenty of other career paths. If you are already in the holistic health field and are looking to incorporate massage into your field, our Basic Massage Therapy program is perfect for you to enroll in.

If you are looking for a career change, and are still not completely convinced that Massage Therapy is the right career for you, try out our Basic Massage Therapy course for beginners. This is a great program if you are interested in Massage Therapy but not sure if you want to take the full 2200 Massage Therapy Program. If you choose to advance to the 2200 Hour Massage Therapy Program, you will only have 1700 hours left to complete to obtain your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) License.

Relaxation Massage Techniques

Assessment and Consultation
Body Charting

Delivery of the Basic Massage Therapy Program:

  • The program commences and has in-takes every month
  • Homework and written exams are administered online via Microsoft Teams

Student Massage Clinic

Wholistic Health Training & Research Centre provides every student with access to work alongside a registered massage therapist (RMT) at our student massage clinic in Edmonton. Students also have the opportunity to use the services and receive an inexpensive massage at our student massage clinic in Edmonton.

Completion of the Basic Massage Therapy Program at Wholistic Health Training in Edmonton will give you 500 hours of credit towards our: Advanced Professional Massage Therapy Diploma Program When you complete this course, you will be given a massage certificate that is recognized by most cities in Alberta. You may now practice massage, but not as a registered massage therapist (RMT). The benefit of becoming an RMT is that it allows your clients to submit the claim for reimbursement from their insurance provider.

Our 2200 hour Advanced Professional Massage Therapy Diploma Program is a 2 year program, but it is delivered over 16 months. We have both practical courses that are in-class and required coursework on an online moodle system, so you are able to take a full-time course on your own schedule.
There are some courses where you can get some credit for work experience. In order to determine how much credit you are going to get, call us today at 780-461-6708 and book an appointment with an academic advisor.
No, you do not have to retake those classes. When you have completed our 500 hour Basic Massage Therapy Program, you will get credit for those classes that go towards your 2200 hours. You will only have to complete 1700 hours in order to get your diploma.
